Collection Manager

A collection is a sort of attempt to systematize the material reality around us and the objects we have created. I converted a wooden jigsaw puzzle into a system that can provide a setting for pictures as base units. These are truncated copies of my previous prints, occasionally scaled-down copies, and reworked or sorted pieces of images I have collected. The starting point was certain objects, which I highlighted form the accumulations of objects in my private living space, and some of them come from the environment of my work in a public collection. The base units can be moved relative to each other, but unlike the original function, they are not puzzle-like and cannot be sorted. Due to the resolution of the game order, systematability is more of an appearance, there is no designated direction or connection, there are only different ways of using it.

Texts have been added to the board of the structure, which can be examined by changing the location of the field that is always left blank. The collection, as a changing shape, a moving structure, is thus formed not only by images of concrete objects, but also by thoughts attached to the objects or by memories independent of them.

During the execution of the work, it became increasingly clear to me that I was inadvertently creating a kind of elite object. As a result, I noticed the tension between the use of materials, that is traditionally considered to be high quality, and the resulting vulnerability and the use function of the object. Coming to this conclusion, I emphasized the nature of the museum object by placing it under glass. The work also includes a plastic replica that can be touched by the viewer, allowing direct use.
